Mini Paint Sessions and Upcoming Shows!!!

Posted by Heather on Thursday Apr 1, 2010 Under Event Calendar

I have been having so much fun with all these ideas for “mini paintings” and I decided to start and have a few showings this year. I will be showing in late April at the California Surf Museum (Oceanside, Ca) and at Blue Laguna (Laguna Beach, Ca) coming up for Art Walk the first Thursday in June! I will have small 4×4 and 5×7 paintings available to take home along with new prints and note cards filled with tons of art! I am already 8 or nice pieces in to my project and hope to have about 30 completed by June. I am also planning on showing at Sol  Grill in Newport Beach, Ca so get ready for some new and exciting art in the near future. I will have more information to follow! And to add to my series I re-painted “The Secret Spot” in a mini version in watercolor! This will be the only original left in the series so if you are interested contact me! It is framed with a beautiful wood carved frame and museum glass. Ready to hang!  Secret Spot in Watercolor ©Heather Ritts 2010

Keep a Breast at ASR 2009

Posted by Heather on Friday Oct 9, 2009 Under Event Calendar

I recently painted a bust for Keep a Breast Foundation. The bust was Chad Towersey’s (writer for Surfline) and you can see the process here. (picture 9) I was also very honored to help out with Phil Robert’s piece. his theme was painting Rell Sunn who passed from the disease. I created the lei that draped over his beautiful painting. Both will be auctioned off for charity for breast cancer research and awareness. I was very happy to be involved. I have known a lot of women touched by breast cancer and most of them have survived due to early detection. Also here is a link to the site where you can see the video at ASR. My bust is at the 0:12 mark and Phil’s with the lei I created is a the 0:18 mark. It is a touching video. Thanks Shaney Jo for the opportunity. I would love to do it again!

Check out Billabong’s Cosmic Creek Snapshots here. There were so many beautiful guitars and ukelele’s there and I know Surfrider is so stoked to have so many people helping out! The music was so fun and I am so stoked I got to contribute to such an amazing event. I got to meet Donovan and he was nice enough to take a picture with the guitar I painted. Here are some photos and some of my favorite pieces and from the evening below..

Well known artists (John Van Hamersveld, Wolfgang Bloc, Andy Davis, Tyler Warren, Herbie Fletcher, Jay Alders, Kevin Short, Daniel Chang, Timmy Patterson and host of others) will do their interpretation of art/ installation, etc on the actual guitars, making this a unique, not to be missed exhibit.
